I understand the point that is trying to be conveyed. But does this type of thinking about commitment and relationship mislead us? For example, when my mind wanders am I 95% committed to my wife? Jesus said that a man who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery; therefore, I have broken my marital commitment. Is there an ebb and flow to relationships, and most importantly to a seeking after the face of God? Does this type of perspective on following Christ force us into a static, superficial type of religion where the dissonance between what we believe we should have, and what we know as reality causes us to put up a veneer of "clean holiness"? Where as if we admitted life was messy, and that it is about falling on our face and getting back up(and what God is trying to develop in us through that journey), would the church we see become the Church Christ intended?
